File Flinger lets you share files conveniently and quickly with anybody you share a link with, during the time you are running the app.
Its the easiest and fastest way to share files with colleagues. You can share files with one ore more people in the same room, or across the world, using anything with a web browser to connect to your device.
File Flinger runs its own file server, and high performance multi user web server that gives you the power to control when your files are shareable and when theyre not, and you choose your own subdomain at myfileflinger.com for sharing via the Internet, or you can keep things private to your own wifi network.
When youre done sharing, simply turn the app off.
The app has its own file system, which is separate from all other files on your device. It starts out completely empty, and its up to you to put stuff into it.
The people you want to share with dont need this app. All they need is a web browser, and the URL you share with them. It really is that easy. You can share with multiple people. Try running it in a meeting if you want to distribute materials to anybody in the room. They can upload stuff to you too.
Next time youre on the phone with a customer and need to get them something right away, or you need something from them, fire the app up, and use the email button in the app to send them the URL.
Want to make presentation materials available to a group during a presentation? Upload the presentation to File Flinger and write the URL on the board.
Using File Flinger means you dont need to fumble for USB keys, external drives, or mess with sharing settings on cloud based file storage services. All of those things go the way of the floppy disk, for the vast majority of situations where you need to send or receive a file.
File Flinger has practical file size limitations that are common with all web upload tools, and the file transfer speed is dependent upon the speed of the available networks.
That means File Flinger is not going to be useful to you if you want to quickly share large media files, but for the real world use for sharing anything like youd attach in an email, its perfect.
Note, that in addition to File Flingers web UI, you can use iTunes or another management tool to manage the contents of its file system.
Please drop me a line at [email protected] if you use the app. Let me know what you think. If I like your feedback, Ill put it on the to-do list.
